How to Sell a Home During
the Summer
Most
people who have children prefer to move during the summer
instead of moving during the school year. Because of this,
there are usually a lot more real estate sales during the
summer, so it is a perfect time to sell a home. Here are
some tips to help you with the process.
1) Try
to get your home on the market towards the beginning of the
summer. This will give your house the most amount of time
on the market during the summer months.
2) Make sure your home stays tidy since you could get only a few
minutes notice before a viewing. If you have kids that stay home
during the summer, try to keep them busy with structured
activities instead of pulling all of the toys out of their
closet and making a mess. Playing outside is a good option
because they will not mess up the house. Make sure you
have a plan of where you will go with the kids if you have a
viewing. Perhaps you will take them out to lunch or to go
get ice cream. This incentive will encourage them to tidy up
quickly before you leave.
3)
Keep your yard watered. A brown yard does not give off a
good first impression. If you are only allowed to water
once or twice a week due to water restrictions, water each of
the allowed days in the morning and evening.
4) If
you go on vacation, make sure your home is taken care of during
that time. Make sure the yard is mowed and watered.
Make sure your mail and newspapers are held or picked up
while you are gone. Your home temperature should stay
somewhat cool for potential viewings. You may want to keep some
of the window coverings open so your home does not feel dark.
Consider using a mild plug in air freshener to keep your home
smelling nice instead of stale.
5)
Leave a note for visitors to help themselves to a cold bottled
water or canned soda in your refrigerator. Visitors or
their children who are thirsty are likely to spend less time in
your home.
6)
Create a take a way sheet for visitors that explains what is
great and special about your home. They are likely to be
visiting many homes on the same day during the summer, so having
something to take will help them remember what is so special
about yours. Make sure to check out the competition to
know why your home is better than theirs.

Throw a 4th of July Party on
a Budget
With
the 4th of July coming up everybody has one thing on their mind,
“celebration”. But with celebrating comes cost, and in
today’s economy cost is not always a good thing. So my
goal is to show you how to have an inexpensive Fourth of July
party by hosting your July 4th party on a budget.
The
first items we will look at are your decorations. When
planning your decorations you need to think about the occasion
that you are celebrating. Ok now that you have thought
about it what comes to mind? Flags are pretty inexpensive
to buy so if you had a flag outside on a pole that would be
totally appropriate. For the inside decorations however,
your flags could be drawn on poster paper, it is important to
remember that the flag of that time period had 13 stars so you
may want to draw your flag accordingly. Balloons are
another good idea, simply go out and buy some red, white and
blue balloons and tape them up all over the walls. Don’t
forget that if you have kids they will love making the flags and
blowing up the balloons, if you let them help it will give them
ownership. You can have a cheap 4th of July party and
still have it look great. Supplies for an inexpensive
Fourth of July party can be purchased at Wal-Mart.
For
the second item we will look at invitations. Invitations
are easy to make when you are planning a July 4th party on a
budget. It is not necessary to be extravagant; you can buy
colored paper and make all the invitations on your personal
computer. If you want to save on mailing you can even
create the invitation and e-mail them to the people you want to
attend your party. You will be surprised at the amount of
people that will understand you are putting together at July 4th
party on a budget. You can purchase your invitation
supplies at your local Wal-Mart or office supply store.
Third
is food, after all what is a celebration without food.
Since you are trying to make this an inexpensive Fourth of July
party, you might want to have your party pot-luck style.
If you desire to do so you can buy appetizers. Another way
to keep your July 4th party on a budget is to have everyone that
wants to bring meat do so, and then you can still barbecue.
As for the drinks go BYOB is the best way to go, but it doesn’t
have to be beer it can be soda too.
Another suggestion is, make it a themed party. As you can
see, having an expensive Fourth of July party is not that hard
and even though you are on a budget you can still have a good
time.
