TIMS FORD LAKE INFORMATION
Tims Ford Reservoir is a 30-year old
lake located in Franklin and Moore Counties of Middle
Tennessee. Most of the lake has views of Monteagle mountain and its
lower ranges. The area enjoys all four seasons to the fullest with a
growing season that includes 200+ frost free days.
The lake itself
covers 14,200 acres with 265 miles of shoreline. The reservoir is
operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) on the Elk River.
The lake is home to numerous public facilities - Tims Ford State
Park, Tims Ford Marina & Cabins, Holiday Marina & Landing (home of
Blue Gill Grill - a floating restaurant), and the Winchester Bass
Club. There are numerous boat launching ramps around the lake, as
well.
FISHING
Tims Ford Lake has a wide variety of sport
fishing that includes smallmouth and largemouth bass, walleye,
striped bass, white bass, crappie, catfish and bluegill. Bank
fishing is available at Tims Ford State Park, Winchester City Park,
and Estill Springs Park. Limited access is also available at each
boat launching ramp.
SPORTING
The waters of Tims Ford Lake are a perfect place for water skiing,
wake boarding, inter-tubing, and riding personal watercraft. Many
of the homes that surround the lake can be seen with persons
enjoying swimming around their docks and sunning on the decks.
LIVING
The communities that surround Tims Ford Lake
include Winchester, Estill Springs, Lynchburg, and Tullahoma. The
quality of life is good for the area - low unemployment, low crime,
and a relatively slow-pace lifestyle. Estill Springs is one of the
top retirement spots in the United States.
FANNING BEND DEVELOPMENT
Tims Ford Lake will soon be home to a new environmental-friendly
development - Fanning Bend. The properties will be served by
community docks, strategically placed along the shoreline. Fanning
Bend is located only minutes from Bear Trace Golf Course and Tims
Ford Marina.
